Betty A. Newhouse

Betty was a warm and devoted individual whose career in sales reflected her passion and dedication. Betty began her career selling Dutch-made clothing. Later, she and her late husband, Don, ran a real estate business in Cape Coral, and later worked in cremation sales.

Known for her kindness and never speaking ill of others, Betty’s gentle nature and strong intuition left a lasting impression. Whether in Florida or back home in Jamestown, she treasured time spent with family. From lively pool parties to backyard barbecues, her constant love and support were a steady presence for those she cared about.

Betty’s love of card games lasted until her final days, enjoying countless rounds of rummy and racehorse that always ended with laughter and joy. She also delighted in shopping and going out to lunch.

She is survived by her children, Guy R. Olson, Rodney L. Olson, Carol Nordland, Joni (Larry) Judd, and daughter-in-law, Mary Sue Olson; grandchildren, Courtney Olson, Jesse Olson, Richard Olson, Rachel Frisbee, Christina Michaelree, Kevin Schaal, Kerianne Harzewski, and Kayla Timko; and twenty great-grandchildren.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Carl Richard Olson; her second husband, Donald E. “Don” Newhouse; her son, Daniel C. Olson; and her grandson, Brian Newhouse.

Family and friends are welcome to gather for visitation on Saturday, June 28, 2025, from 1 to 4 p.m. at Lind Funeral Home, with a remembrance service scheduled for 3 p.m. Burial will take place at Sarasota National Cemetery in Florida.

Floral arrangements are gratefully accepted. In memory of Betty’s enduring love for dogs, especially in her later years, contributions to local humane societies would be warmly appreciated.
