Virginia E. “Ginny” Park

Virginia E. “Ginny” Park

It is with great sadness and much love that we say goodbye to our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Virginia E. “Ginny” Gorman Park, 99, of Jamestown, N.Y. Ginny passed away peacefully on Friday, May 2, 2025, surrounded by her loving family at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Stacey and Max Crandall.

Ginny was born on November 14, 1925, in Warren, Pa., the daughter of the late Edward J. and Florence Gheres Gorman, and stepdaughter of Claire Neal.

She graduated from Warren High School and was employed for 10 years by Bell Telephone Company in Warren, Pa., as secretary to the district traffic superintendent. She later worked in the office at Warren General Hospital. On July 2, 1949, she married Lawrence M. Park in Olean, N.Y., and the couple made their home in Russell, Pa.

Ginny was a member of Russell United Methodist Church, Lakewood Rod & Gun Club, and Blueberry Hill Golf Course. She cherished time with her family–especially her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and her beloved dogs. She was an inspiration to many who often asked her the secret to her long, beautiful life. Her answer was always simple: “The love of my family.”

She had a deep faith in the Lord Jesus and a joyful approach to life. Even at 95, she checked a bucket list item by visiting a small tavern called The Swamp–where she had the time of her life. Spirited and witty, Ginny enjoyed her daily martini (which she also credited as a secret to longevity). In her younger years, she was an accomplished water-skier, loved dancing, and camping with family and friends. In later years, she enjoyed golfing.

She is survived by her three daughters: Penny Park of Erie, Pa.; Susie (Ed) Shults of Bemus Point; and Stacey (Max) Crandall of Jamestown. Also surviving are five grandchildren: Edmond (Bevin) Shults III, Eric (Rebecca) Crandall, Nichole Shults, Miranda (Jeremy) Casel, and Kyle (Ciara) Shults; seven great-grandchildren: Ty Shults, Quinn Johnson, Parker Shults, Remmy Shults, Eddie Shults IV, Scarlett Casel, and Warren Casel; and five step-great-grandchildren: Sierra Mason, Rose Greenman, Hailey Greenman, Olivia Greenman, and Kyra Greenman. As well as many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Ginny was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence M. “Larry” Park, who passed on March 24, 1996; an infant son; her brother, James Pierce; her sister, Delores Grosch; and her companion of 19 years, Herbert Johnson.

The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to her caregivers, Debbie Przepiora and Irene Winchester, Dr. Hayes and Hospice.

A celebration of Ginny’s life will be held at The Swamp (250 Jones and Gifford Ave Jamestown, NY 14701) on Saturday, May 17, 2025, (Open House) from 5 to 8 p.m. Her cremated remains will be laid to rest in Pine Grove Cemetery, Russell, Pa.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Debbie Przepiora at 1 Lakeview Ave., Mayville, NY 14757.
