Ralph John Long Jr., 77, passed away peacefully on May 18, 2025, in DeWitt, NY. Born in 1947 to Ralph Sr. and Grace (Turney) Long. Ralph had one sister, Tess (Long) Constable. Ralph was a devoted family man. He was married to Louise Ann Long and had three children, Jacqueline Parks and partner Diana Bukowski, Jennifer Young and husband Aaron, and Ralph Long III and wife Darlene. He graduated from Frewsburg Central High. He worked at Jamestown Lamination and Watson’s Industries (as a millwright) while living in Ivory, NY until 1988. Ralph and Louise had a substantial farm with a roadside stand. Ralph also enjoyed coaching the green team (tee ball) for many years always treating to Igloo ice cream win or lose. Ralph then moved with Louise to Williamsburg, VA to help her pursue her education. He worked at Outdoor World as a maintenance man. In later years Ralph and Louise moved to Syracuse to be closer to their children and grandchildren. He worked at Jean’s Foods and GSP in Syracuse as a millwright. Ralph was a lifelong learner, a thinker and an all-around intellectual. From a very young age Ralph would always be found with a book tucked in his back pocket. His interests knew no boundaries. He enjoyed cars, fishing, hunting, golf, chess, politics, art, music, construction, cooking and more. Ralph could fix or build almost anything and would teach others as well. He enjoyed making homemade greeting cards for his family in recent years. Ralph was light hearted and funny. He loved his hometown of Frewsburg, NY and would spin many a tale regarding his times there. Ralph was a member of Holy Cross Church in DeWitt and active in the sandwich ministry. Ralph will be remembered for his charitable spirit and his strong work ethic.

Ralph loved his grandchildren very much, Emily Duby, Snowlynn, Michael, JoAnn and Lia Parks, Sadie Yackel, Violet and Holden Young, and Alyssa and Redd Long; and two great grandchildren, Benji and Ash Duby.
