Patricia Spencer

Patricia Spencer (nee Painter) passed away peacefully and surrounded by love on April 23, 2025. She grew up in Salamanca, New York. She enjoyed playing croquet with her friends and younger brother Bob, to whom she remained very close all her life. After being hired as a teacher by Jamestown Public Schools in 1964, she enjoyed travelling with her lifelong friend, Rosemarie Huebner. They shared so many fun adventures.

In 1973, she married her true love, Terrence Spencer. They moved to a house in the country (East Randolph, NY) where their daughter, Laura, was born. It was a wonderful place to raise a young child. Those memories are some of her daughter’s favorites. The family then moved to Jamestown, New York where Pat and Terry lived the rest of their lives.

Patricia relished her role as a teacher, wife, mother, and grandmother. Nothing made her happier than being with her family. She cooked wonderful homemade dinners every night and always had cookies in the cookie jar and ice cream in the freezer.

Once her beloved granddaughters were born, she fully embraced being a grandma. She nurtured both their creativity and independence and loved them completely. They created wonderful memories together playing, making strawberry jam, shopping, and going on adventures.

Pat taught elementary school for 36 years before retiring. Many of her best friends were the teachers with whom she taught, and she remained close to them. During all of this, Pat remained active in her church and community and maintained a full social calendar of breakfasts and lunches with her friends. She was kindness and love and yet had the heart of a lion. She will be dearly missed.

Her parents were Ruth and Walter Painter. She is survived by her daughter, Laura Germaine and her beloved son-in-law, Russell Germaine; her granddaughters Ella, Lillian, and Nora Germaine; her brother, Robert W. Painter and his wife Marsha K. Quattrone Painter; her nephew Robert C. Painter and his wife Krystina Noon Painter; her great nephew Colin J. Painter, and great nieces Alyssa, Morgan, and Marissa Painter.

A memorial service will be at 2 pm on May 17 at Christ First United Methodist Church in Jamestown, with a luncheon to follow.
