Marion Joyce Harrington, 98, of Hartfield, NY, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, May 2, 2025. She was born Sept. 22, 1926, in Sinclairville, NY, the daughter of the late Richard J and Mina Noble Hotchkiss Sr.
Marion was a 1943 graduate of Mayville Central School. She was a homemaker, who was instrumental in helping her husband raise four children and run the family dairy and beef farm. She was a member of the Hartfield Church, the United Methodist Women’s Organization, the Dewittville-Hartfield UMC, and a Sunday School teacher for many years. She enjoyed reading, traveling with the Mayville Senior Citizens, teaching Bible School, and time with her family.
Marion is survived by her four children: two sons, Ronald James (Kay) Harrington of Dewittville, Donald J (Sue) Harrington of Stockton; two daughters, Mina K. (David) Covert of Prattsburgh, NY, Rachel Ann Harrington of Jamestown, TN; seven grandchildren, Jason (Tracy) Harrington, Travis (Stacey) Harrington, Jesse (Shelley) Harrington, Joshua (Missy) Harrington, Keri (Marc) Clements, Joel (Jaime) Covert, and Heather Hausauer; 16 great grandchildren, one great-greatgrandchild, and many nieces, and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Stanley Elton Harrington, whom she married on Dec. 14, 1947, in Hartfield Memorial Church, one sister, Iolyn Hart, and two brothers, Harold Hotchkiss and Richard J Hotchkiss Jr.
The funeral will be held at 1 PM on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at the Freay Funeral Home in Mayville. The Rev. Mike Spell will officiate. Burial will be in the Dewittville Cemetery. The family will receive friends for two hours before the service 11 AM – 1 PM, also at the funeral home.
