Esther L. Gustafson

A Jamestown resident most of her life, she was born Aug. 2, 1929, in Rock Island, IL, a daughter of the late Myron and Elizabeth McConnell Parmenter.

While in Jamestown, she was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church, where her husband served as minister for 21 years.

Surviving are two children Timothy Gustafson of Albuquerque, NM and Elizabeth “Beth” (David) Wilfong of Spring Hill, FL; grandchildren Jasen Bruce of Tampa, FL, Bruce Gustafson of Albuquerque, NM, Kasey (Donald) Wilson of Brocton, NY, Cody Ann Gustafson of Jamestown, NY, and a great-granddaughter Vera Bruce of FL.

She was preceded in death by her husband Rev. Charles H. Gustafson, whom she married Aug. 29, 1953, and who died Jan. 1, 2021; a grandson Jeremy Bruce in 2019; a sister Phyllis Parmenter and a brother Russell Parmenter.

The funeral will be held at 11 am Saturday June 21, 2025, in Bethel Lutheran Church. Where friends will be received for one hour prior to the service.

Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Shriners Hospital for Children or Smile Train.
