Alice Davis Nelson, 80, formerly of 62 Ivory St., Frewsburg, passed away Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at Heritage Green.
She was born Aug. 2, 1944, in Jamestown, the daughter of Vincent Davis and Mary Blasdell Davis.
Alice was a 1962 graduate of Frewsburg Central School. After graduation from Buffalo State College, she enjoyed a long career in elementary education. She taught three years in the Kenmore district, one year at Falconer, and spent the majority of her career teaching kindergarten and first grade at Robert H. Jackson Elementary in Frewsburg. Following her retirement in 2005, she enjoyed several years subbing at Frewsburg and volunteering in her daughter’s classroom at Southwestern Elementary School.
Alice was an avid reader, especially of magazines and cookbooks. She was always searching for new recipes to try. She also enjoyed crafts and decorating for the various seasons.
Besides her parents, Alice was predeceased by her husband David E. Nelson, whom she married in 1964, as well as a brother, Robert Davis.
She is survived by her son Douglas Nelson of Pittsburgh, PA, her daughter Kari (Nick Costanzo) Nelson of Kiantone, her grandson Brian Nelson of Pittsburgh, and her siblings Edward (Kathy) Davis of Frewsburg, Beverly (George) Davis of Wilmore, Kentucky, Linda (Mark) Blazejewski of Wareham, MA, and Jim (Elise Albert) Davis of Milwaukie, OR.
The family would like to thank the staff members at Lutheran and Heritage Green for their care over the last several years.
No visitation will be observed. A private service will be held at a later date.
Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Frewsburg.
