William G. Blackwood

William G. “Bill” Blackwood, 81, of Lakewood, peacefully passed away on Friday, April 4, 2025, at rehab. He was born on March 21, 1944, to the late William George Blackwood I and Leona C. Link Blackwood.

Following high school, Bill graduated from Baldwin Wallace University.

He worked for Stouffers in Cleveland and then managed Biltmore Country Club in Barrington, Illinois before moving to Chautauqua County where he owned and operated Jacobson Weekly Olson in Jamestown.

Bill’s next adventure was building and operating Mariner’s Pier Restaurant at Holiday Harbor on Chautauqua Lake, where he developed his well-known chicken wing soup.

He loudly cheered on his beloved Pittsburgh Steelers with utmost pride.

Bill loved his family and time spent together. Having his children and grandchildren around meant the very most to his soul, especially watching his children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events and theater performances.

Bill’s spirit will be missed by his adoring wife, Jacquie Heath Blackwood, whom he married June 13, 1987; his children, Jayne Marsh of Bemus Point, Chris (Adrienne) Blackwood of Colorado, and Emily Blackwood of Jamestown; his grandchildren, Andrew Marsh, Megan (Jed) Micek, Mitchell Marsh, Matthew (Maddy) Marsh, Adam Marsh, Haley (Jonathan) Martinez, Zach Blackwood, Sorin Blackwood and Luna Blackwood; his great-grandchildren, Blakely and Santiago Martinez; and his sister, Georgie (Bob) MacGinnitie of Briar, WA.

In keeping with his wishes, no visitation or services will be held. A Celebration of Life will be announced by his family in the summer.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Village of Lakewood Fire Department whose compassionate care was felt by the Blackwood family many times, 37 Packard Ave., Lakewood, NY 14750.
