George R. Clinger
George R. Clinger, 84, of 139 Jones Street, Lakewood, died Sunday April 13, 2025, in Buffalo General Hospital.
A native of Columbia, PA, he was born April 30, 1940, a son of the late George and Elizabeth McCall Clinger.
He was a 1958 graduate of Jamestown High School.
Prior to his retirement, he was a draftsman at Dowcraft and earlier at Watson Manufacturing.
He was a member of Lakewood Rod and Gun Club, Vikings, Moose and YMCA. As a young adult he spent time mentoring the youth at Jamestown Boys Club. He was active in the original flag football league and many softball teams.
George loved visiting with people wherever he went. Whether he was leaving a restaurant or selling his treasures at a flea market, there was always conversation to be had.
Surviving is his wife Carol Yocum Clinger, whom he married May 19th, 1962; two children Steven (Debra) Clinger of Rochester, NY and Stacy (James) Rauh of Lakewood; four grandchildren James (Jillian Shults) Rauh, Jenna (Ben) Whitney, Sara (Kris) Jacobson and Anna Rauh; three great grandchildren Hartley and Hayden Rauh and Owen Whitney; a sister Mary (Robert) Northrop of Busti; step brother Brian (Michelle) Clinger of Randolph and half-brother Thomas Clinger.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a great granddaughter Lainey Mae Whitney and a sister Shirley Lawson.
The funeral will be held at 5 pm Thursday in the Lind Funeral Home, where friends will be received from 3-5 pm Thursday.
Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
