Timothy A. Miller

Timothy A. Miller

Timothy A. Miller, 80, of Falconer passed away unexpectedly Saturday (February 1, 2025) in his home surrounded by his family.

A lifelong area resident he was born September 10, 1944 in Jamestown, the son of the late C.J. Rudolph and Telka Anderson Miller.

Tim was a 1962 graduate of Falconer High School and in earlier years was employed by Tom Dunn Masonry, as a brick layer, and worked with his Dad at Miller Machine Shop. He later was a partner on the former Searscrest Dairy Farm. Prior to retirement Tim along with his son Randy owned and operated Miller Water Pump Service.

He was a member of the Ingjald Lodge 65 Vikings for 53 years and served as Chief of Vikings for two terms in 2012 and 2013; Thule Lodge 127, Vasa Order of America having served as Past Chairman and trustee. Tim was a member of the Ellington Rod and Gun Club and the Chautauqua County Beekeepers Association. Tim’s Scandinavian and Swedish Heritage was an important part of his life. He was well known at the Vikings Lodge on Chautauqua Lake and in 2014 he received the Jamestown Scandinavian of the Year. Tim was known as the, “Swedish Chef” and enjoyed preparing and cooking staple Swedish and Scandinavian dishes such as Korv, Sill, Glogg and Swedish Pancakes. Several years ago, at the Vikings Lodge Tim won a Sill recipe contest, having made the best tasting sill.

He loved spending time with family and friends, hunting, and fishing with his son Randy, caring for his honeybees and hives; running their small hobby farm of beef cattle. He loved Blue Grass Music and taught himself how to plan the mandolin.

Tim was also known as the “Pump Doctor” having repaired hundreds of water pumps in the area. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone that needed their machinery fixed, and most often would have an answer to the problem by fabricating the repair in his machine shop. He enjoyed tinkering with projects in his machine shop and woodworking. Tim was really one to never rest, always thinking about what he could accomplish today. He will be sadly missed by his family, his Swedish family, neighbors, and friends.

Surviving is his wife Janet E. Sears Miller whom he married September 18, 1965, they would have celebrated 60 years of marriage this September. Also surviving are two children: Randy Miller of Falconer, Julie Harper (Nathan Thomas) of Jamestown; grandchildren: Rachael Harper, Kamryn Harper & David Thomas. Also, several extended family members.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers: Rudy and Dave Miller.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. and 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the Falconer Funeral Home. A Celebration of Tim’s life will be announced at a later date and will held at the Vikings Lake Lodge.
