William “Bill” Henry Larson

MAYVILLE- William “Bill” Henry Larson, 70, of Mayville, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, December 6, 2024, at the Westfield Memorial Hospital in Westfield, NY. He was born July 17, 1954, in Jamestown, NY, the son of the late James and Oleta Skinner Larson.

Bill was a 1972 graduate of Chautauqua Central School. He then proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1973 to 1976. He then worked in various management positions with Ethan Allen in Mayville for 30 years and then worked for Mayshark Builders and the Mayville Hardware.

He was a member of the Lake Chautauqua VFW Post 8647 in Mayville where he was active with the Auxiliary, the Color Guard and fundraising and had a favorite meal named for him, the “Chicken Larson”. He was also a member of the Mayville American Legion Post 493.

Bill loved to sing and restore old cars. He would tinker with anything old to bring it back to life. He also enjoyed going to Cruise-In car shows, hunting, cheering for the Buffalo Bills and spending time with friends and family.

He is survived by a brother, Barry (Linda) Larson of Mayville, a sister, Linda (Jim) Mawhir, of Mayville, and several nieces and nephews; Shannon Larson, JD Mawhir, Carly (Scott) Larson, Sonya (Josh) McBride, Danni (Andy) Estes, Brea (Terry) Trone, and Mike (Alysha) Larson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Terry Lee Larson and Tim Larson.

A memorial service will be held at 1PM on Sunday, December 15, 2024, at the Lake Chautauqua VFW Post 8647 (10 Memorial Drive, Mayville, NY), where military honors will be given. A celebration of Bill’s life will continue after the service, at the VFW.
