Gilda M. “Jill” Palmer
Gilda Mary Cinotti Palmer passed away Thursday, Dec. 26, 2024 in her home in Jamestown. She was born in 1932 in Endicott, NY, to her late parents, Maria and Donato Cinotti.
Jill was a graduate of Union Endicott High School and received her RN degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing with honors. She worked at Wilson Memorial Hospital and then she attended Catholic University in Washington, D.C. where she met her future husband. They moved to Jamestown, and later she worked in her husband’s dental office for over two decades.
She believed in “giving back” to her community and was a member of the Jamestown Dental Auxiliary and over the years held several offices in that organization. She received a lifetime PTA award for her work at Fletcher and Lincoln schools. Jill volunteered at WCA Hospital for many years, the Fenton Museum, and at the Robert H. Jackson Center. While she was a member of St. James Parish, she taught religion, was a lay minister, and was a member of the Parish Council. Jill was most recently a member of Holy Apostles Parish.
Her main interests were her family, which she held very dear to her heart. She loved her friends, traveling, bridge, and was an avid sports fan. Her family and friends knew not to call her when the New York Yankees and the Buffalo Bills were playing.
Jill was predeceased by family members including her parents and a loving brother, her in-laws, Louise and Samuel Palmer, and several aunts, uncles and cousins. She is survived by her husband, Dr. Francis C. Palmer; her children, Mark, David, Ann Marie, Jeanne, and beloved son-in-law and daughter-in-law, John and Anne; and her grandchildren, Andrew, Sophia, Alexandra, Isabella, Eston, Mia, and Teagan.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 31 in Ss. Peter & Paul Church. Private inurnment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery. Visitation will not be observed.
