Duane A. Thorpe

A lifelong area resident he was born September 19, 1936 in Jamestown, the son of the late Clifton W. and Margaret H. Hoisington Thorpe.

Duane was a graduate of Jamestown High School and prior to retirement he was employed by MRC-SKF for 33 years.

He was a member of the Jamestown Bethel Baptist Church and the Panama Masonic Lodge.

Surviving is his wife Barbara J. Thorpe whom he married May 6, 1978 in Fluvanna; a son Rande (Virginia) Thorpe of Corpus Christi, TX; two granddaughters: Kristie (Tom) Brawley of Tomball, TX, Lauren (Daniel) Smith of Corpus Christi, TX; two great grandchildren (Stephen Brawley, Gayle Brawley) and two great, great grandchildren (Harrison Wyatt Brawley, Florence Holliday Brawley) and close family friend Dolores Himes.

He was preceded in death by a brother Denton Thorpe, sister Elga Thorpe and daughter Robin Thorpe.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in the Falconer Funeral Home. Rev. Andrew Taylor will officiate. Burial will be in Blockville Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
