Rodney D. Best
Rodney D. Best, 67, of Gerry died peacefully at home on Friday, October 25, 2024 surrounded by members of his loving family.
Rodney was born July 11, 1957, in Jamestown and was the son of the late Walter K. and Barbara Sundlov Best. He was a 1974 graduate of Cassadaga Valley Central School and for more than 40 years he owned and operated B&G Home Repair. Rod was known by many for providing exceptional work that turned into a lifetime of devoted customers.
Rod enjoyed riding his dirt bike, especially with his son Dalton. He had a fondness for fishing and was a member of the Chautauqua Lake Fishing Association. He loved to start his day before the sun came up and never missed going to breakfast with “the guys” on Sunday morning. But nothing characterized Rodney more than his love for family. He doted on his beautiful grandchildren and gave generously of his time and loving heart. When help was needed, he never hesitated. That help will be missed, but his example of service to others will live on in his children and grandchildren.
Rodney is survived by his daughter Jammie Lynn (Mickey) Berlin of Randolph, grandchildren Emma Patterson and Carter Best, son Dalton (Katie) Best of Busti and their children Norah, Mayble, and Lannie Best, and Bailey (Coty) Hall Schauers of Frewsburg who he considered a daughter and her children Brinley, Piper, April, Hank and Juniper Schauers; a brother Randy (Corinne) Best of Angola, a sister Rhonda (Bob) Seebold of Danville, PA , a brother Brian (Korinne) Best of Falconer, step brothers Jim (Kerry) Mitchener of Falconer and Jeff (Renee) Mitchener of Mayville , and his step mother Melinda Best of Falconer.
A memorial service will be held at 12 Noon on Saturday, November 2nd in the Lind Funeral Home, where friends and family will be received from 10:00 am to Noon prior to the service.
Donations in Rodney’s memory may be made to the Dewittville Cemetery, PO Box 1, Dewittville, NY 14728.
