Gary L. Gisslin
Gary L. Gisslin, 74, of 203 Locust St., Lakewood, died Tuesday Oct. 8, 2024, in UPMC Chautauqua.
He was born July 17, 1950, in Jamestown, a son of the late Rodger and Mia Dahlquist Gisslin.
He was a 1968 graduate of Southwestern Central School and later earned a degree from Jamestown Community College.
He retired from Skyview Amusements, Inc., Union City, PA as a technician and “A Jukebox Hero.”
Gary was a very social person and was a member of Cassadaga American Legion 1280, Chautauqua Lake Fish Club, War Vets Recreation and Lakewood Rod and Gun Club.
He made so many special friends over the years. He loved golfing, hunting and especially going out on his fishing boat he shared with his best friend Lee.
Gary leaves us as a dedicated husband, father, gramps, brother and friend to all that knew him and loved him.
We will all miss you, Gary, but we will all carry with us wonderful and fun memories of you. As his granddaughter Nora said, “Fly High Gramps.”
Surviving is his loving wife Grace Jensen Gisslin, whom he married June 25, 2005; two stepchildren Julie (Tim) Conklin of Ashville and Scott Vik of Mooresville, NC; grandchildren Brandon Vik, Naomi Engstrom, Nora Engstrom, Cassidy Vik, and Josh Wahley; great granddaughter Alayah Vik; two sisters Cindy Lyon of Oceanside, CA and Sheryl (Mark) Ramsey of Lakewood; brother-in-law Craig (Amy) Jensen, sister-in-law Sally (Dennis) Hagg; several nieces and nephews from California to New York whom Gary loved and cherished as his family.
The funeral will be held at 11 am Monday in the Lind Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 1-3 Sunday and for one hour prior to the service in the funeral home.
