Richard D. “Pops” Blackburn Jr.
Richard D. “Pops” Blackburn Jr., 72, of 4614 Hale Road, Bemus Point, died Saturday August 31, 2024, in his home surrounded by his family.
He was born September 13, 1951, in Bainbridge, MD, a son of Richard and Metta Bratt Blackburn.
He retired from the US Navy after 20 years. Richard loved serving his country and wanted to Make America Great Again. He also retired from Matco Tool Company.
Surviving is his wife Barbara Jones Blackburn of 41 loving years; two children Deane (Casey) Blackburn (Bodie and Metta) of Rochester, NY and Heida (Colten) Swan (Greyson and Gavin) of Busti, NY; and a sister Mary Lynn (James) Turney of Bemus Point.
Friends will be received from 4-7 pm Friday and memorial service at 10 am Saturday at the Lind Funeral Home. Burial will be in Bemus Point Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Tunnel to Towers Foundation or Wounded Warrior Project. You may leave words of condolence at www.lind funeralhome.com.
