Evelynn Juhl
Evelynn Juhl, 75 of Ormond Beach FL, formerly of Cassadaga, NY stepped into the light on September 6, 2024, in the comfort of her own home.
Evelynn knew the Lord, and peacefully took his hand. “Evie” or “Ev” shared her life and home with her devoted husband David R. Juhl and many beloved animals, including her dog, Pooh. Evie is survived by loving daughters Jodene (Tim) Strom of Midland, MI and Robin (Todd) Schroeder-Fenton of Frewsburg, NY. She is also survived by her dear sister Diane (Tony) Allendbrand of Sinclairville, NY, a nephew (like a son), Michael Allendbrand of South Dayton, NY and stepgranddaughter Ylsa Maj (Angelo) Giuffre of Jamestown, NY as well as extended nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Leon Derby, Jr and Margaret (Crowell) Derby and her companion, Jerry Coon.
Born April 19, 1949, Evie was a 1967 graduate of Cassadaga Valley Central School and married former husband Martin A. Schroeder August 1967 with whom she shared her girls. While her daughters were young, Evie was employed by Heritage Village and CVCS school district as well as working independently house cleaning and wall papering. She also worked at Ranco Industries, Sinclairville, NY for a number of years. Evie was a talented cook and was passionate about feeding both the body and the soul; she humbly held the position of Kitchen Manager at St. Susan’s Soup Kitchen where she touched countless lives. A friend to so many her desire to care for others resonated in additional positions she held at various restaurants and taverns with her last employment prior to retirement at Pal Joey’s, Jamestown, NY.
Evie had a deep love for animals and through the years she had horses, birds, rabbits, goats, a ferret, chickens, cats and dogs. She cherished her farm in Cassadaga and cultivating the many flowers on the family homestead. Evie also had a great admiration for the National Seashore, New Smyrna, Florida where she spent countless days enjoying the beach with her husband, David.
The family asks memorials be made to a local animal shelter of your choice, Newfoundland Club of America Charitable Trust, (in remembrance of her Newfoundlands), or consider adopting a stray or shelter cat or a dog in her honor.
Evie’s kindness and sincere love for others will be greatly missed by all who knew her. A private celebration of life will be held at a later date. Visit our website at www.falconerfuneralhome.net to send a message of condolence.
