Dawn M. Henderson
Dawn M. Henderson, 92, of Southwestern Drive, Lakewood, passed away Friday, August 30, 2024, at Heritage Green Rehabilitation & Skilled Nursing. She was born in Jamestown on March 18, 1932, to the late Elton T. and Florence Chambers Peterson.
Dawn was a 1950 JHS graduate who made most of her career as a dental assistant in Asheville, NC. She also dabbled in real estate sales for Century 21 and ended her professional years as a floral designer at the Biltmore House.
A deeply religious soul, she was a communicant of St. James Catholic Church where she founded the Rosary Guild. Furthermore, she published a book of her poetry entitled, “Dawn’s Free Spirit” in 1973. Aerobics and belly dancing were Dawn’s physical favorites, and she loved spreading the exercise forms as a teacher for many years. She was an auxiliary member of the Lakewood Rod & Gun Club.
Dawn will be missed by her children: Valerie Heggarty of Jamestown; William Constantine (Teena) of California; Michelle (Fred) Landy of Riverview, FL; and Paul (Lindsay) Constantine of Falconer; grandchildren: Sean Heggarty, Andrew Heggarty, Dylan Constantine, Casey (Michael) Miller, Carter Constantine, Macaulay Maher, Cody Fransen, Anny (Stephen) Katulis, and Zachary Landy; great grandchildren: Mia Heggarty, Declan Johnston, Bree Heggarty, Bailee Heggarty, Adrianna Miller, Thea Miller, Caliah Miller, Maya Miller, and Asher Katulis; her brother, Bruce (Gloria) Peterson and many stepchildren, step-grandchildren, and step-great grandchildren.
Besides her parents, Dawn was preceded in death by her husband, Bob L. Henderson, in 2012, her son-in-law, Charles “Charlie” Heggarty, in 2022, and her sister, Suzanne Richard.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 5, 2024, at St. James Catholic Church. Rev. Paul Cygan will be celebrant. Burial will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 4-6 p.m. on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, at the Lind Funeral Home.
