Daniel Wahlgren

Daniel Wahlgren, 77, of Ellicott, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2024, in his home surrounded by his family.

He was born July 28, 1947, in Jamestown, NY, the son of the late Edward and Kathryn Cederquist Wahlgren.

Daniel was a 1965 graduate of Bemus Point High School and continued his education at Jamestown Community College earning his associate’s degree.

He was a life-time member of the Fluvanna Volunteer Fire Station 1, a member of Vikings Lodge IOV 65 and Boy Scouts of America Troop 169.

Daniel was an attentive and loving husband, father, and grandfather. In addition to enjoying time with family, he enjoyed attending household sales, collecting antiques and working in the yard. His biggest love, however, was Christmas. He enjoyed decorating at the holidays, going all out with inside and outside lights and decor. His greatest passion was his love of Santa’s, and he proudly shared his extensive collection at the holidays with family and friends.

Before his retirement he worked as a produce manager at Acme Markets, Quality Markets and Tops Friendly Markets for many years earning him the nickname “Dan-Dan the Produce Man.” Following his retirement he enjoyed working for Jane Derby Household Sales.

Surviving is his wife Susan Seymour Wahlgren whom he married Oct. 9, 1971; his daughter Sara Hagg of Concord, NC; his two sons Bryan Wahlgren of Jamestown, and Aaron (Leslie) Wahlgren of Bemus Point; grandchildren Zachary (Presley Sweet) Hagg and Dawson Hagg of Concord, NC, Makayla Wahlgren and Caleb Wahlgren of Bemus Point; great-grandchildren Greyson Hagg and Waylon Hagg of Concord, NC; his sisters Susan (Don) Angelo of Jamestown and Nancy (David) Carlberg of Pittsburgh, PA, and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his brother Brian Wahlgren and his uncle Carl Millward.

The service will be held 1 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 29, 2024, in the Lind Funeral Home.

Friends will be received from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, 2024, in the funeral home.

Burial will be held at Bemus Point Cemetery.
