William Kay Ruslink

William Kay Ruslink died June 1, 2024 in Conroe Texas, after a brief illness. Bill was born April 29, 1944 in Jamestown NY to Donald R. and Myrtle (Scott) Ruslink.

He is survived by his sons Scott (Christine) Ruslink Ward of Reistertown MD and Corey (Cynthia) Ruslink of Lewisville TX. Bill was “Dad 2” to Shelly (late BJ) Haffly of Jacksonville TX, Warren Head of Jacksonville TX, and Lisa (Jesse) Chavez of Freeport TX. He is also survived by sisters, Marjorie (Jack) Skinner of Grand Island NY and Carol (Robert) Glasier of Madison AL, Grandchildren Devon Head and Music Ruslink, and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Sherry, the nuclear-powered hummingbird, and sisters Donna (late Jack) Deck of Erie PA, and Nancy (late William) of Oneonta NY.

Bill graduated from Clymer NY Central School where he enjoyed Shop classes and was a member of Future Farmers of America. He served in the US Air Force in Texas and Taiwan and learned skills that prepared him for his work at SUNY Brockport and Carrier Air Conditioning among other endeavors. Bill retired from the U.S. Government as a HVAC specialist, receiving honors for his expertise and work ethic.

He was an avid photographer and had great interest in astronomy and genealogy. After retirement he purchased a motor home and roamed the country as “De oude nomadische Nederlander”. He was especially drawn to Alaska where he was planning another trip at the time of his death. He may have been born in New York, but he was meant to be a Texan where he always returned after his travels. The family is honoring Bill’s wishes to have no formal services.

His arrangements were handled by Smart Cremations. Memorials may be designated to the Abbe Reformed Church, Clymer NY, Lake Fork Baptist Church of Alba TX, or Escapees CARE retirement community of Livingston TX.

Bill was greatly loved and will be forever missed.
