Thomas M. Green
Thomas M. “Tom” Green, 49, recently of Lakewood and previously of New York City, died Friday Aug. 16, 2024, in Weill Cornell Medical Center, New York City, following an illness.
He was born on June 14, 1975, in Jamestown, and raised there and in Houston, Texas, a son of R. James and Bonnie L. O’Neil Green.
Tom earned a bachelor’s degree in business from Monmouth College (Illinois) in December 1996. After college, he spent most of his adult life in New York City, working as a human resources executive in the biotech and spirits industries. He was most recently employed as the head of human resources for Luxury Spirits International.
Tom brought joy, fun, and humor to the lives of all who were fortunate to know him. His sense of humor was matched only by his kindness. He loved nothing more than spending time and laughing with dear friends and family.
He loved the city of New York, and he also enjoyed spending time in Miami, where he lived for several years. Tom loved to cook and acquired impressive skills over the years. He loved comedy of all kinds, and music. Tom was a Broadway aficionado, with both a deep knowledge of and a deep love for the Great White Way. His beloved dog Alfie brought light to Tom’s life, and to all who met Alfie.
Tom is survived by his mother of Lakewood, a sister Cindy L. (Jeffrey) Alper, four brothers James H. “Jim” (Cheryl) Green, John E.(Cheryl) Green, Jason A. Green, and Daniel R. (Angela) Green.
He was the adored “Uncle Tom” to eight of his fantastic nieces and nephews: Benjamin and Jessica Alper, Eric and Rebecca Green, Amelia, Bennett, Margo, and Clara Green, and two of his paternal cousins Kirsten and Caroline Green.
Tom is also survived by an amazing community of friends in New York City, who all feel that he was as much a member of their families as he was a member of the Green family.
He was preceded in death by his father on Dec. 16, 2023, as well as by his maternal grandparents John and Agnes “Suzy” O’Neil, and his paternal grandparents James B. and Esther Green.
