Carol A. Bankowski

She was born November 10, 1942, in Wilkinsburg, PA, a daughter of the late Albert and Dorothy Gardner Shear.

Following graduation from Avalon High School she went on to earn a degree in nursing from Sewickley Valley Hospital School of Nursing.

For a short time, she worked at Sewickley Valley Hospital, but for 46 years she worked at WCA Hospital in Jamestown retiring as an administrative nurse.

She was a communicant of Sacred heart Catholic Church where she served as a eucharistic minister, lector, and sacristan.

She loved playing bingo and trips to the casino.

Surviving is a son Wayne Bankowski, with whom she made her home; a granddaughter Allyson Bankowski of West Ellicott; cousins Janet Snyder of Rhode Island and Linda Hicks of Buckhannon, WV who were raised with Carol and were like sisters to her and a nephew Christopher Shear of South Carolina.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Victor Bankowski, whom she married April 30, 1966, and who died January 14, 2022; a brother Fredrick Shear; a half-sister Geraldine Vierheller and an aunt and uncle who raised her George and Helen Gardner.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am Tuesday in Sacred heart Catholic Church.

Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery.

Friends will be received from 9:30-10:30 am Tuesday in the Lind Funeral Home.
