Elva Alice Abbey
Kennedy, NY – Elva Alice Abbey, 96, of North Main Street in Jamestown, formerly of Virginia Lane, Kennedy, passed away at 11:22 PM, Monday (July 22, 2024) at UPMC Chautauqua Hospital.
She was born December 17, 1927 in Leon, New York, the daughter of the late Arthur O. and Emma Bigham Knuth Sr.
She attended Randolph Central School. Elva retired in 1985 from Metallic Ladder Company in Randolph and in earlier years had worked at the former Lundgren Chevrolet in Randolph and for Randolph Motors.
Elva was a very talented bowler and known throughout the area for winning numerous league titles and championships. She was the 1st female bowler to score a 700 at Twi-Lite Lanes in Randolph and was also a former member of the W.I.B.C., she enjoyed crocheting, flower gardening and spending time with her family.
She is survived by Sister-in-laws; Carol Knuth and Barb Knuth, as well as many nieces and nephews, including her care givers, nephew Brad Lefford and wife Patricia of Jamestown.
She was preceded in death by her husband Lloyd M. Abbey whom she married in 1974 and who preceded her in 1991, a daughter; Susan Diane Stacey, sisters; Lucile Shields, Doris Smith and Twilla Lefford, brothers; Albert Knuth, Arthur “Bud” Knuth and Earl “Doc” Knuth and sister-in-law; June Knuth.
Graveside Funeral Services will be held at 10 AM. Thursday (July 25, 2024 in the East Randolph Cemetery. The Rev. Tim Middleton, pastor of the East Randolph Methodist Church will officiate At Elva’s request visitation will not be observed.
