Donna Louise Barkman Wilson, 92, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and aunt, passed away peacefully on July 8, 2024, at Duke Hospital, Durham, N.C.

Born in Jamestown, NY on March 10, 1932, Donna was the daughter of Kermit Edward Barkman and Elna Katrina Dorothea Anderson Barkman. She grew up in Jamestown, and attended Celoron Branch, Southwestern Central School with her beloved friends Phyllis Johnson Kerner of West Seneca, NY and Judyth Ann Agnew of Palmerton, FL with whom she still kept in touch with weekly since the fourth grade.

Donna worked at the Bank of Jamestown for 10 years. Then went on to marry Charles Howe Wilson on Aug. 29, 1952, at the First Methodist Church.

Donna and Chuck retired to Durham, N.C. in 1989 and were active in Duke University Alumni groups, activities and scholarships.

Donna will be remembered for her dedication to her home and family. She had a passion for bowling and participated in a Durham league for many years and made many cherished friends there. Donna also thoroughly enjoyed doing cross stitch and other crafts. She created more than 100 Easter Bunny baskets which she gave to friends and family. She touched the lives of many with her kindness, and generosity, leaving behind cherished memories.

She is survived by sons Edward and Thomas, grandson Zachary, daughter-in-law Krista, and nieces Diane Berg and Mary Ellen Owens.

Donna was preceded in death by her husband Charles, parents Kermit and Elna Barkman, sister Beverly Clark and niece Sue Swanson.

A graveside service will be held at 10 am Saturday in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
