William W. “Bill” Smith Sr.
William W. “Bill” Smith Sr., 84, of 1132 Blockville-Watts Flats Road, Ashville, died Sunday June 2, 2024, in his home.
He was born August 31, 1939, in Watts Flats, a son of the late Milo and Pansy Reed Smith.
He attended Panama Central School and then joined the US Navy serving from November 1956 November 1962.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed by Jamestown Precision Tooling in the maintenance department. He also worked as a truck driver delivering concrete.
He attended The Rock Church and was a member of Lakewood Rod and Gun Club, Sportsman Trap Club, and Evans Social Roller Skate Club.
He enjoyed trap shooting and dirt track racing.
Surviving is his wife Patricia Gleason Smith, whom he married September 2, 1961; three children Cynthia (Chad) Carlson of Lakewood, Tracy (Jim) Lehnerd of Hot Springs Village, AR, and William (Sandra) Smith, Jr., of Ashville; grandchildren Rebecca Carlson of Frewsburg, Kaylee Carlson of Miami, FL, Alexis (Mason) Hendrix of Summerville, SC; Olivia (Ed Jr.) Dorman of Hot Springs Village, AR, Mitchell (Alicia Logue) Smith of Jamestown, and Matthew (Alexandria) Smith of Ashville; six great grandchildren Cayden, Auria, Jamie, Owen, Orion, and Jaxson Smith and Owen Hendrix.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a granddaughter Amanda Grace Carlson; brothers Arthur during WWII, John, Tom and Milo Smith, Jr. and sisters Ann and Betty Smith.
The funeral will be held at 3 pm Saturday June 15, 2024, in the Lind Funeral Home, where friends will be received from 1-3 pm just prior to the service in the funeral home.
Burial will be held in Panama Greenwood Cemetery.
