William R. Lindberg Jr.

William R. Lindberg Jr., 82, of Jamestown, died Friday, June 14, 2024, in Heritage Park Rehab and Skilled Nursing.

A native of Jamestown, he was born August 22, 1941, a son of the late William and Marian Owen Lindberg.

He was a 1959 graduate of Jamestown High School.

Prior to his retirement, he was employed by Cummins Jamestown Engine Plant as a machine operator and earlier had worked for Prototool and Blackstone.

He was a communicant of Ss Peter & Paul and Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Bill enjoyed many years of camping, he loved old cars, going to car shows and oldies music.

Surviving is his wife Sandra Bement Lindberg, whom he married in1975; two sons William (Cindi) Lindberg III of Clarendon, PA and Patrick (Nancy) Lindberg of Lexington, SC; two stepsons Michael Simon of Mayville, NY and Richard (Tina) Simon of Dewittville, NY; grandchildren William, Christopher, Melissa, Joe, Patrick and Andrew Lindberg; several great grandchildren; step grandchildren Richard (Brittany) Simon, Ryan (Yu) Simon and Tyler Simon; sisters Maureen “Mickey” (Dave) Persing of Pittsfield, PA and Patti Wong of Jamestown. He was also known as “Grampa Cuckoo” to a special little great granddaughter Charlotte Simon.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Cathleen Meurer; brother David Lindberg and an infant brother Richard Lindberg.

A memorial service will be held at 6 pm Wednesday, June 19, in the Lind Funeral Home.

Friends will be received from 4-6 pm Wednesday in the funeral home prior to the service.

Memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
