Alan R. Morgan

On Jan. 27, 1973, Alan married his soulmate, Sandra “Sandy” Blake. Together, they embarked on a journey of love, partnership, and family, welcoming their son into the world: Jason. Their union was not just a marriage but a partnership that flourished in love, respect, and mutual support until Sandy’s passing on March 1, 2019.

Alan’s professional journey began shortly after High School embarking on a long career in the construction industry working for ABC Paving of Buffalo, New York. After 18 years working in construction as a Superintendent, he transitioned to the production of Blacktop and selling aggregate materials as the Superintendent of Olean’s Buffalo Crushed Stone Blacktop Plant. His thirst and passion for success allowed him and his team of employees to far exceed company production and sales expectations under his leadership and guidance. Alan was most proud of the transportation of aggregate material via Railroad business he helped foster and grow along with strong relationships with others in the “Rail” business across New York and Pennsylvania.

Alan’s life was rich with hobbies that reflected his love for nature and the outdoors. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and trapshooter with an eye for life’s simple beauties. His passion for trapshooting was more than a pastime; it was part of who he was, competing, teaching and promoting shooting sports across the country. Of all Alan’s shooting accomplishments, he was most proud of winning husband and wife as well as parent child events during the Annual New York State trapshooting championship held in Syracuse, New York.

But it was his role as a husband, father, and later as a grandfather that Alan cherished above all. The annual family deer hunting contest including his son, grandson, and granddaughter where rules often changed on the fly created lasting memories and laughs around the family dinner table. Alan’s presence was a constant at his grandchildren’s sporting events which almost always included lunch for everyone regardless of the event’s outcome. His dedication to his community was further exemplified by his years volunteering as a Little League coach, and trapshooting mentor including a period as President of the Penn-York Trapshooting Winter League where he taught not just the rules of the game but the values of hard work and perseverance.

Predeceased by his parents and loving wife, Alan’s legacy is carried forward by his son Jason, daughter-in-law (Paula) Morgan, his grandchildren Jared and Megan Morgan, brother Dennis (Patricia) Morgan, sister Rosemary (Michael) Deitsch, seven nieces and nephews who loved him dearly, and countless friends and loved ones around the country.

Alan Rocky Morgan was a man of integrity, a beacon of love for his family, and a craftsman of the community. His legacy will continue to inspire, and his memory will forever be etched in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
