JoAnn Hammond
Jensen Beach, FL -JoAnn Hammond, 93, of Jensen Beach, Florida, formerly of Little Valley, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Saturday (May 11, 2024) at her home and under the care of family and Treasure Coast Hospice.
Mrs. Hammond was born on January 8, 1931, in Jamestown, NY, the daughter of the late Rudolph and Josephine (Hickey) Anderson. She was a 1949 graduate of Falconer High School and retired from the Cattaraugus County Civil Service Department where she was the Mapping Clerk.
JoAnn and her late husband, Floyd, were long time members of the Little Valley Wesleyan Church until they relocated to Florida in 1995; where they became members of Morningside Friends Church in Port St. Lucie, FL.
JoAnn’s interests included family, traveling, nature, and professional football. She loved being surrounded by her family and especially listening to “her boys” tell stories of their antics growing up on the farm. She enjoyed traveling to different places and could sit for hours outside (when it was warm enough) appreciating God’s creations, admiring things as grand as the ocean surf and mountains to the flowers in her back yard. She enjoyed playing board / card games, dominos and working on crossword puzzles. JoAnn had a passion for professional football and was a devoted Buffalo Bills fan. Win or lose her love for the Bills never wavered.
JoAnn is survived by four sons, Mark Hammond and wife Deborah of Stuart, FL, Dale Hammond and wife Karen, with whom she lived with in Jensen Beach, FL, Daniel Hammond and wife Mary of Port St. Lucie, FL, and Scot Hammond of Elkdale, NY.
She is also survived by nine grandchildren, Elizabeth (Richard) Botta, David (Katie) Hammond, Matthew (Rebecca) Hammond, Ashley (Joseph) Howe, Katie (Max) Arioli, Lindsay Hammond, Cody Hammond, Trevor (Jessica) Jennings, Kevin (Mary) Jennings, and five great grandchildren, Madelyn Hammond, Aubrey Hammond, Oliver Botta, Joshua Hammond, and Jaxson Howe.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Rudolph and Josephine, her husband of 69 years, Floyd J. Hammond (October 30, 2020), son Michael A. Hammond (November 4, 1995), and great grandson, Harrison Botta (April 29, 2018)
The family will receive relatives and friends from 5-7 PM on Friday, May 24 from the VanRensselaer & Son Funeral Home located at 14 Church Street, Randolph, NY. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 25 at 11:00 AM at the Little Valley Wesleyan Church. Pastor Dan Butcher will officiate. Burial will be in the Little Valley Rural Cemetery.
