Donald E. Straight

Donald E. Straight, 81, of Stoddard Road, Sugar Grove, PA, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, May 3, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.

Donald was born on April 7, 1943, in Baltimore, MD, the son of the late Kenneth E. and Berniece Ackley Straight. Donald graduated from Warren High School in 1961. Donald went to various trade schools including Lincoln Welding School, Cummins Engine Diesel School and SKF training.

Donald was a machine operator from 1976-2015 at TRW/MRC/SKF for almost 50 years. Donald and his wife Shirley owned and operated S&D Discount stores for over 30 years.

Donald was a member of Joy Fellowship FMC, Jamestown, NY. He was a passionate hunter with his wife. He was a Pennsylvania State and National Pistol Champion. He enjoyed motorcycle riding and auto mechanics, rebuilding and flipping Jeeps with his wife Shirley. He liked woodworking and gardening his own vegetables for his family. Donald and Shirley were youth leaders. They enjoyed hosting community parties for the kids, especially Halloween parties. He looked forward to Christmas and hosting the family.

Donald is survived by two daughters: Misti Green of Falconer, NY and Pastor Dodi (Kenneth) McIntyre of Jamestown, NY, his son: Donald, Jr. (Jeanne) Straight of Sugar Grove, PA; two sisters: Patricia (Jim) Uber of Sugar Grove, PA and Helen Wennberg of Warren, PA; his brother: David (Mary) Straight of Warren, PA; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, Donald is preceded in death by the love of his life his wife Shirey M. Straight whom he married on August 21, 1964, and who died on September 20, 2023, and a granddaughter: Christina Pessia.

Family and friends may call at Powers, Present & Sixbey Funeral Home, Inc., 316 E. 5th Street, Jamestown, NY on Wednesday, May 8th from 5-7 PM. A funeral service will be on Thursday, May 9th at Joy Fellowship FMC at 11 AM. A visitation will be one hour prior to service from 10-11 AM. Pastor Dodi McIntyre (daughter), pastor of the church will officiate, burial will be in Wesleyan Cemetery, Sugar Grove, PA.
