Vance G. Lowe

Vance G. Lowe, 76, of Kennedy, passed away on Friday (March 29, 2024) at the Star Hospice House in Lakewood, NY.

He was born on September 8, 1947 in Olean, NY. The son of the late Glenn and Ruth Smith Lowe.

Vance attended Olean High School and later earned his Associates Degree at Jamestown Community College, and his Bachelor’s Degree at St. Bonaventure. He served our country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was later employed by the Department of Labor for 26 years.

Vance enjoyed archery as a child with his dad and helped his parents build their home. He was an assistant coach for tee ball and youth softball. He was a member of the Randolph Legion and was on the Zoning Board of the Town of Poland. He always looked forward to seeing his friends (The Dry Brook Poker and Philanthropic Society) on poker nights. He enjoyed airplanes, classical music, animals, John Deere tractors and golf. He created a pond and gazebo for his family to enjoy. He taught his daughters how to operate the backhoe, change oil on the tractors and how to target practice in the woods.

Vance loved sweets and watching World War ll documentaries. He also enjoyed giving gifts to his family and friends.

Surviving is his wife, Shirley Lowe of Kennedy, whom he married on June 30, 1973 (and to whom he celebrated his 50th wedding anniversary with last year). Two daughters: Amanda (Mark Affronti) Lowe of Lancaster, NY, Laura Lowe of Hornell, NY; a granddaughter: Alexandra Affronti; a sister: Jamie Geise of Olean, NY;: Roderick “Rod” (Sandra) Lowe of Laurys Station, PA: and a brother -in-law, Kim Torrey of Bolivar, NY. He is also survived by many beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Besides his parents, Vance was preceded in death by a sister: Rebecca Torrey: and a brother in law Paul Geise.

Visitation will not be observed in accordance to Vance’s wishes.

In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be donated to the Falconer Library, The Chautauqua County Humane Society or charity of your choice.
