Martha H. Kennedy

She was the widow of James N. Kennedy whom she married Sept. 5, 1959 and who died Sept. 16, 2019.

Martha was born in Jamestown on January 2, 1939, the daughter of the late Hilmer and Hilda Anderson Hanson, and was a graduate of Jamestown High School.

In her early years, Martha enjoyed sailing competitively. Sailing out of the Chautauqua Lake Yacht Club in her Snipe, she competed in several regional and one national regatta.

Throughout the years, she and her late husband, Jim, lived in California and Colorado before later returning to Jamestown. She then worked in the office of Lake View Cemetery for several years.

Martha is survived by her brother, Richard A. “Dick” Hanson (Pat) of Lakewood; a nephew, Mark Hanson (Cindy) of Jamestown; and her niece, Lisa Hanson Bartholow (Tim) of Athens, GA.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 18th in the Lind Funeral Home, led by Rev. Adam Rohler. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery. Visitation will not be observed.
