Janet Claire Anderson

With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Janet Claire Anderson, 71, of Timonium, MD, formerly of Jamestown, NY, on April 9, 2024. She departed peacefully, surrounded by love and in the comfort of Gilchrist Hospice Care in Towson, MD.

She was born on Jan. 23, 1953, to the late Clare and Mabel Tillotson in Jamestown, NY. Throughout her life, she embodied grace, kindness, and resilience. She touched the lives of many with her warmth and compassion.

Janet was the devoted wife to her beloved husband of 44 years, Robert (Bob) Anderson.

She instilled in her children the values of integrity, perseverance, and empathy. Her legacy of love will forever live on in the hearts of her children Aaron Jessey (Carrie) of Jamestown, NY, Ashley Benhart (Adam) of Baltimore, MD, Jordan Anderson (Brittany), of Timonium, MD, stepdaughters, Larakay Skinner (Justin) of Baldwin, MD and Michelle Sabol of Doylestown, PA, and grandchildren, Austin Jessey, Hayden and Sawyer Benhart, Lorelai Anderson, and Chase Sabol.

In addition to her role as a mother, Janet was a cherished sister to her sisters and stepbrothers: Barbara Knott and Darla Van Stry of Jamestown, NY, Margaret Whittington of Lakewood, NY, Wally Butryn of Panama, NY, and Steve Butryn and Peter Butryn of Florida.

She is preceded in death by her son, Joshua Anderson who died in August 1983, her stepmother Helen Tillotson, and her stepbrother, Ted Butryn.

In accordance with her wishes, there will be no funeral service. Instead, the family will have a celebration of her life to be held at a later date.

Janet will forever remain in our hearts as a beacon of love, strength, and wisdom.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Gilchrist Hospice Care in Towson, Maryland in memory of Janet Claire Anderson.
