Howard A. Nickerson

Howard A. Nickerson, 84, of Noblesville, IN passed away March 31, 2024. He was born March 10, 1940, in Jamestown, NY. Son of the late Walter and Signe (Hegstedt) Nickerson. He married Elizabeth McLaughlin on May 6, 1961.

Following high school, Howard joined the Army National Guard where he honorably served for several years. He was a linotype operator at the Jamestown Post-Journal for a number of years. He then became a professional firefighter for the City of Jamestown. Howard ultimately retired from the City of Jamestown where he proudly served his community for many years. He later co-owned Leisure Time Honda in Corry, PA. He was a member of the Thule Lodge in Jamestown, NY, the Elks Lodge in Tampa, FL, and he was an active member of the NRA. He was an avid reader and outdoorsman. He enjoyed playing golf, leather tooling, gem mining, riding motorcycles, and participating in cowboy action shooting.

Howard was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and brother who will be deeply missed. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Elizabeth Nickerson; two daughters, Kelley Kirk of Jamestown, NY, and Sherry Motto (Chris) of Noblesville, IN; Edwin Nickerson (Bonnie) of Scottsdale, AZ; daughter-in-law Katie Nickerson Cullen (Martin); five grandchildren Coty, Mandi, Casey, Julia, and Gracie; and four great-grandchildren, Landon, Gabby, Lizzy, and Lucas. He was preceded in death by a son, Scott Nickerson; granddaughter, Josephina Nickerson; and a sister, Joanne McMaster.

Memorial services will be held at 11am Friday, April 5, 2024, at Flanner Buchanan – Hamilton Memorial Park (Prairie Waters) 4180 Westfield Road, Westfield, Indiana 46074.
