Hazel L. DeAngelo

Hazel L. DeAngelo

Hazel L. DeAngelo, 95, of Jamestown, NY left her earthly home on Sunday, April 21, 2024. She had a first class one way ticket to Heaven. In her final moments, she was surrounded by her loving family, who now rejoice in the fact that she is with her Savior. Hazel was born Jan. 7, 1929, and was a life-long area resident.

The daughter of Jirles Simpson, and Pearl (Simpson) Frick, Hazel graduated from Cassadaga Valley High School. Directly from high school, she gained employment at Jamestown Veneer and Plywood and then Truck-Lite, from which she retired. But that wasn’t it for Hazel, next she worked eight years for Bob Evans as a hostess. Still not done, Hazel then went on to work at the Post Journal until she retired at the age of 80.

Although Hazel endured some great hardships in her life, the primary purpose in her life was to bring joy, happiness, and immense love to all in her family and all who she came in contact with. As a Mom, a Grandmother, a Great Grandmother, and a Mother-in-Law, there are no words to express the mutual bond of love that was and always will be there. All those who new her best, including brothers, a sister, nieces, nephews, and friends, will tell you that no kinder, sweeter, or gentle person can be found. Mom and friend will be deeply missed.

Finally, Hazel embraced her salvation and LIVED it. She was a member of The Rock Church where Pastor Doug referred to her as the “Matriarch” of the church. Hazel had great concern for all and their salvation.

Hazel was preceded in death by her husband Joseph, three brothers Bud Simpson, Bill Simpson, and John Frick. Surviving are her daughter Laurie (Ron) and son John, granddaughter Janelle, grandson Brian, and her great granddaughters, the most precious, Alexis and Piper. Hazel also is survived by countless nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life/memorial service will be held at The Rock Church; Saturday, June 15 at 11 a.m. with a luncheon to follow.

Her family ask that any memorials be made to the Gerry Volunteer Fire Department or American Heart Association.
