Clarabelle M. (Sweet) Burdick
Clarabelle M. (Sweet) Burdick, 90, of French Creek, NY, passed away at home Thursday March 28, 2024.
She was born August 28, 1933 in Clymer, to Harold and Minnie Sweet. On September 1, 1951 she married to the love of her life, Alton “Bud” Burdick Sr.
In September 1954, Clarabelle and Bud moved to their home on Reagan Road, where they lived together until his death in 2002. She continued her life there until her passing. Clarabelle was en electronic tester with Elgin Electronics. Always active and seemingly always on the go, Clarabelle could be found almost every day of the week playing bingo with family and friends. During the summer months she and Bud attended the Wattsburg Fair spending the day under the bingo tent when they weren’t at the grandstand or the sausage tent.
She enjoyed snowmobiling, camping, family events, crocheting baby afghans, which could be found all over the U.S. and genealogy with her cousin Pat.
She is survived by: her daughter, Pauline (Richard) Langer of Sherman; grandchildren: Dawn Alday of Clymer, Richie (Stefanie) Langer of Mayville, Kyle Langer of Sherman, and Melanie Bailey of Jacksonville; great-grandchildren: Samantha Griswold (Nate Dickerson) of Jamestown, Nicole (Allen) Briggs of Panama, Gavin and Ethan Langer of Mayville, Devin Hewes of Mayville, James, Dalton and Colt Miller, of Clymer, Nevaeh, Dekyn and Hayden Bailey, of Jacksonville, FL; great great-grandchildren: Aidan, Tegan and Emma Briggs, Kaleb, Alaric, Jackson, Jasmine and Emily Miller, and Cameron Bailey, of Jacksonville, FL.
Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great nephews.
Clarabelle is predeceased by her husband, Alton “Bud” Burdick,Sr., son, Alton Burdick, Jr., granddaughter Julia Miller, grandson-in-law Will Bailey; siblings: Donald, Merle, Gerald, Jesse and Leona Sweet, Irma Gibbons, Violet Redding, Vera Bromley, Betty Green, Earla Bromley, Marianette Bowen; a special nephew Jerry Lee Sweet, Sr. and close cousin Patricia Goodban.
Flowers gratefully declined. Memorial contributions may be made to the Clymer Vol. Fire Dept., The Stanley House Company, Sherman, NY, the Mayville VFW or the charity of your choice.
Visitation will be at Edwards Chapel, 9227 Cherry Hill Road, Clymer on Wednesday from 6-8pm and Thursday 11am-12pm followed by funeral service at 12 pm. Interment will be at Cutting Cemetery.
