Helen Plowy

A Jamestown native, she was born Aug. 31, 1953, a daughter of the late Tadeusz and Anna Cienky Plowy.

Her education led her to earning her Bachelor of Science degree in pharmacology at the University of Buffalo in 1981. She was then employed by several area pharmacies, including UPMC Chautauqua, Walmart and Rite Aid, among several others.

Helen was very artistic and designed and decorated beautiful Ukrainian Easter eggs.

She enjoyed travel, including visiting family in Poland. She was also active in finding homes for rescue dogs and belonged to Ss Peter & Paul Church.

Surviving are three sons, Dmitry, Daniel and Dennis Plowy; a grandson, Damien Plowy; brother, John Plowy (Susan); and two sisters, Mary Yachetta and Heidi Waddy (Rob Chervinsky). Also surviving are nieces and nephew: Katie Best (Dalton) and their children, Norah, Mayble and Elaine Best, Ron Yachetta, and Heather Waddy (fiancÈ Steve Grekulak)

The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Lind Funeral Home. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery. Friends will be received from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.
