Bradley William Rolfe, 70, of Ashville, N.Y. passed away peacefully at home on March 11, 2024, after a lengthy battle with cancer.
Born Aug. 17, 1953, in Jamestown, N.Y., the son of the late William and Jean (Shellburg) Rolfe.
He was a 1971 graduate of Southwestern High School. Attended Jamestown Community College, Hiram College and graduated in 1977 with a master’s in arts degree from Eastern Kentucky University.
Brad was employed as a counselor at Jamestown Community College (Olean Campus) from 1981-2002. He taught student success courses. He co-organized Freshman Orientations and brought in speakers, co-developed First Student Association, and co-designed a new syllabus and structure for an achievement and self course.
His passion for the students was evident by the joy he found in the potential of opening minds to possibility.
He loved life, boating, motor homing, sunshine, his pets, family, friends, music, and the light of his life – his granddaughter.
Brad is survived by his wife Christine Rolfe, step-son William Spriggs, step-daughter Andrea (Arthur) Jones and granddaughter Adalaya Jones, mother-in-law Rachael Spieler, sister-in-law Shaina (Craig) Ferguson and nephew Callin Ferguson.
Besides his parents he is predeceased by his stepson Ryan Springs and his mother-in-law and father-in-law Donald and Judith Spieler.
A memorial service will be held at 3 pm Saturday, March 23, 2024, at the Lind Funeral Home. Friends will be received an hour prior to the service from 2 to 3 pm in the funeral home.
