William R. “Bill” Swanson

William R. “Bill” Swanson, 68, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, January 28, 2024 the result of a fire at his home in Kennedy.

Bill was born April 27, 1955 in Jamestown and was the son of the late Roland A. and Doris M. Gustafson Swanson.

Bill was a 1973 graduate of Falconer High School. In earlier years Bill was employed by Fancher Chair and Crawfords Furniture. Prior to retirement he was employed by Hopes Windows.

Bill will be remembered as an incredible artist, musician, and entertainer with a brilliant mind. He was a long time employee of Hopes Windows of Jamestown where he was well respected for his designing talents. Bill will also be remembered for his uncanny sense of humor-regaling his friends and co-workers with copious and never ending series of cartoons, caricatures, and practical jokes.

Those who were fortunate enough to know Bill as a friend will certainly miss him.

Surviving is his son William G. “Billy/Sven” Swanson of Jamestown and his mother Valerie Jeannie Swanson; a sister Diane (Vernon) Crandall of Kennedy; a brother Richard “Rick” (Joan) Swanson of Kennedy; a nephew John D. Crandall of Hudson, OH; a niece Susan (Michael) Kehrli of Frewsburg; two great nieces Rachael and Olivia Kehrli of Frewsburg, and a great nephew Collin Kehrli of Frewsburg.

The family would like to thank their friends and community for their support during this difficult time.

A celebration of life for Bill will be held at a later date. Interment will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery at a later date.
