J. Marguerite Wallgren
J. Marguerite Wallgren, 94, of Lakewood, passed away Sunday, Feb. 18, 2024, in her home surrounded by her family.
She was born Dec. 24, 1929, in Jamestown, NY, the daughter of the late Robert and Edith Willson Anderson.
Marguerite was a 1949 graduate of Jamestown High School.
In her earlier years she worked at Nelson’s Department Store, Loblaws Grocery Store, Jamestown General Hospital and Sears Department Store.
She was a member of Lakewood Baptist Church and Fluvanna Community Church for several years. In her later years she volunteered at St. Luke’s thrift store
Marguerite had many hobbies including gardening, China painting, going shopping with her friends, and watching the birds out her window. She and her husband Leonard made many motorcycle trips down to Gatlinburg, TN, and Florida with several of their friends. She loved her new home on Big Tree Road where she enjoyed horseback riding on “Skip” and “Saylore” and playing with her dogs Steena and Angel.
Surviving are her two daughters Elaine (Philip) Caflisch of Jamestown, Barbara (Gary) Dodge of Florida; her five grandchildren: Katie, John, Jennifer, Sarah, and Rachel; seven great grandchildren: Willis, Haley, Alayna, Ethan, Samantha, Savannah and Joel; great-great grandchild Wayne II.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Leonard G. Wallgren Sr. who died April 26, 2010; her son Leonard G. “Chip” Wallgren, Jr., and her grandson Sean Wallgren Dodge.
Per Marguerite’s request, no funeral service is planned at this time. A memorial service will be arranged at a later date.
