Randolph, NY – Douglas Edward Adams, a beloved husband, father, and friend, passed away suddenly from a cardiac event on Sunday, February 4, 2024, in his home, at the age of 58 in Randolph, New York.
He was born on August 4, 1965 in Salamanca, NY.
Doug's passing is deeply mourned by his family and friends. He is survived by his beloved wife, Kimberly Adams, and his children Derrick (Sara) Adams and Erica (Chris) Dybka. He was a proud grandfather of 5 grandchildren: Aryanna, Reece, Caleb, Jocelyn, and Lexington. He was a loving son of Donald and Ella Mae (Fleckenstein) Adams. Doug leaves behind his 3 sisters Shari (Bob) Lake, Laurie Adams, and Amy (Matt) Lilly. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews: Nikki Beaver, Danielle Pollock, Taylor and Justin Lilly, and Austin, Dillon, Brandon, and Nathan Markiewicz.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents; Burton and Leona (Liskow) Adams and Maternal grandparents; Edwin and Jean (Brooks) Fleckenstein.
Doug graduated from Randolph Central School in 1984. He was in his 40th year at Adams Lumber Company where he spent most of his time behind the wheel of his log truck. He was known for his dedication and commitment to his work. Doug took pride in honoring the legacy of the family-owned business. Doug was a life member of the Randolph Rod & Gun and the Randolph Fire Company.
Doug had a passion for the outdoors. He loved hunting, fishing, four wheeling, snowmobiling, and sunny days by the pool or on the boat. His true passion was spending time with his grandchildren. He had a knack for storytelling and could light up a room with his presence and fond memories of the past. He will be remembered for his willingness to lend a helping hand and his unwavering loyalty to those he loved.
Doug's presence will be greatly missed by all who knew him. His warm smile, kind heart, and love for his family will forever be remembered. Though his journey has ended, his spirit will live on in the memories of those who knew him. May Doug rest in peace, knowing he was deeply loved and will be forever missed.
The family will receive friends and family at VanRensselaer & Son Funeral Home, 14 Church Street, Randolph on Friday, (February 9, 2024), from 3:00 PM-7:00 PM. There will be a Fireman's service at 6:45 PM Friday in the Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 10, 2024, at the East Randolph Methodist Church, 122 Church Street, East Randolph. The Rev. Tim Middleton will officiate. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery. Following the service, the family welcomes everyone to a luncheon at Old Tool Tavern.
