Toby G. Day passed away in Northside Hospital, Canton GA, on Dec 26th, 2023.
Toby was born in Columbus OH, on Dec 7th, 1939.
She was preceded in death by her parents; Charles and Arlene Glover, sister; Bonnie Anne Fox, brothers; Joseph and Eugene Barnett; a nephew Joseph Barnett Jr; and niece Shannon Fox
Toby graduated Jamestown High School in 1958 and Green Mountain College in 1960.
She married Ellis S. Day Sr. that same year at the Christ First United Methodist on Lakeview Ave, Jamestown, NY.
Toby and Ellis Day were the very successful business owners of Day’s Commercial Stationary in Jamestown for 30 years. They sold their business to Staples in 1993 and she retired at the age of 53.
They then lived in Destin FL for 20 years and the last 10 years in Canton, GA.
Toby was very active in the Jamestown community as a member of Creche, Zonta, PTA . the Ellicottville Ski Club and Moonbrook Country Club.
She was very proud to have been the first female on the board of directors of the Jamestown Boy’s Club. Mom instilled humanity, kindness and giving back into her three children.
She was a very competitive tennis player, loved to ski, go to the beach, travel and was an excellent cook. Her forte was buying and selling homes…she bought and sold nine homes and four of them she was involved in the designing and building process, all of her homes turned a profit.
Toby is survived by her husband of 63 years Ellis S. Day Sr., daughter; Kelly Day Wetzel (Tom), son; Ellis (Chip) Day Jr., daughter; Ke-Khee Day Greenough, two grandchildren; Thomas and Mathew Wetzel, three great grandchildren; Blake, Cayleigh, Harper Wetzel, numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and her beloved brother; Charles Glover Jr.
The family will have a celebration of life in Jamestown, NY in the spring of 2024. They are asking for no flowers or charitable donations on her behalf.
