Ronald G. Donelson, M.D., M.S.
Ronald G. Donelson, M.D., M.S., age 78, died on December 27, 2023, in Ann Arbor, MI following a long illness.
Ron was born on February 3, 1945 in Jamestown, NY to Glenn and Ruth (Lind) Donelson and grew up in Erie, PA and Jamestown, NY. He graduated from Jamestown High School and Wheaton College (IL) where he was a tenor in the Men’s Glee Club. Ron graduated from Hahnemann Medical College and went on to practice as an orthopedist, specializing in non-surgical spinal care. He authored three books, taught physicians and therapists all over the world, and contributed to the science underlying evidence-based treatments for back pain. Ron earned a Master of Science Degree from The Dartmouth Institute, Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth (Hanover, NH) in 1999.
Ron’s professional organization involvement included the North American Spine Society, International Society for the Study of the Lumbar Spine, McKenzie Institute, and the Professional Ski Instructors of America.
Ron had a lifelong passion for and excelled in a wide range of sports including: swimming, downhill skiing, mountain bike riding, and water skiing. He loved being an adaptive ski instructor – with a special interest in guiding visually impaired skiers in New England and Colorado.
Ron loved his family. He is survived by his wife Lois; daughter Kimberly (Donny) Likosky; sons, Marc (Cortney) Donelson, Brett (Tamara) Donelson, and his four grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Judy (Jansen) Lasley, and a large extended family
