John Joseph Kane

John Joseph Kane
John Joseph Kane, 71, of Virginia, formerly of Dewittville, NY, passed away December 30, 2023 at his home after a year and a half battle with cancer.
He was born September 30, 1952 to his parents Joseph and Connie. A true renaissance man and a rare talent, he was a hair stylist, cabinet maker, finish carpenter, organic gardener, sound man, truck driver, and spent his later years as an assistant manager at Home Depot before retiring.
He leaves behind his wife of 46 years, Maureen, whom he loved very much. Their love stood the test of time weathering all the challenges that a full and rich life brings with it.
John’s eight children and eleven grandchildren are his greatest legacy: Korin (Brent) and their children Declan and Ian; Erik (Nikki) and their children Emma and Libby; Kristian and his son Liam; Nissa and her children River, Remington, and Ryder; Kelsey and her children Olivia and Max; Anders, Thorin (Stephanie), and Elsa (Lord) and their son Odin. John truly loved spending time with his kids and grandkids, and they brought him incredible joy.
He also leaves behind his sister Peggy. They shared many memories growing up together, including particularly fond memories of going to the Jersey shore and spending hours playing at the beach.
He loved watching football and was an ardent Philadelphia Eagles fan. He also loved spending time in the garden he kept, and John was proud to share the organic fruits and vegetables he grew with family. He was known for his delicious cantaloupes, sweet tomatoes, robust lettuce and gigantic sunflowers. Music was one his great passions in life and he fostered a love of music in his children that lasts even to this day. He loved The Who, Jethro Tull, Alice Cooper and Our Lady Peace and saw all of these bands, and many more, live. Many of John’s most cherished memories as a father were attending these rock shows with his children and their friends.
The funeral will be a private ceremony with family at a later date
