SALAMANCA -- Lisa M. Powless, 61, passed away unexpectedly Friday Dec. 22, 2023 in the Town of Amherst.
Born into the Wolf Clan on Dec. 20, 1962, the daughter of Art Hill and Rita Powless.
Lisa taught tribal wares at the Jo-Jo Redeye Tribal Education Building on the Allegany Territory in Salamanca. She specialized in making moccasins and was very talented in doing so.
Survivors include; Leanna Pierce " Aunt Wig" of the Cattaraugus Territory, 2 sons Brandon Powless of Az. and Quinton Powless of the Allegany Territory. Grand daughters Aniyah and Haze Powless, brothers; Art ( Denise) , Kevin and Randy along with nieces nephews and friends.
Friends may call at the SCHINDLER FUNERAL HOME 44 Center St. Gowanda from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2023, where funeral services will be held Wednesday Jan. 3, 2023, with Blane Tallchief speaking. Interment to follow in the Memorial Heights Cemetery Jimmerson Town. Lisa will be laid to rest next to her mother Rita Powless.
