John Peter Rushworth

A native of Lakewood, New York, he was born on July 22, 1935, the son of Elverton C. Rushworth and Joan Isbell Rushworth.

He was formerly married to Ann Elizabeth Nunan (Rushworth) whom he married on September 7, 1963.

Peter was a graduate of Lakewood High School of Lakewood, NY, (now Southwestern Central High School) in 1953. He graduated Allegheny College, Meadville, PA with a BA in May of 1961 having also achieved an Associate of Arts Degree from Jamestown Community College. He was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity while at Allegheny College.

He was employed by IBM in September of 1961 and enjoyed a 30-year career leading to high level staff and management positions. He retired from IBM in 1991 and subsequently managed small businesses in the field of Home Inspection and Home Repair Services.

He was a communicant at All Saints Catholic Church in Dunwoody, GA where he had also lived for 25 years. He was for several years a member of the Dunwoody Country Club. In past years, he had been a Scoutmaster in the Boy Scouts of America and had also served as an Assistant Scout Master while a resident of Ramsey, New Jersey. While living in Roswell, he was a member of the Roswell Adult Recreation Center. He was and is also a member of the Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by a sister, Dr. Betsy Rushworth of Great Falls, Montana, a brother Denis Rushworth of Dowel, MD (Babs), a son James of Doylestown, PA (Lisa), a daughter Julia Walker of Suwanee, GA (Travis), a son Edward of Peachtree Corners, GA (Jackie), a son Thomas of Suwanee, GA and several beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A memorial service was conducted at All Saints Catholic Church in Dunwoody, GA on Wednesday, November 15, 2023 at 11 am. Interment of cremains will be at All Saints in Dunwoody.
