Joanna S. Fisher

Joanna Saxton Fisher, 90, of Saratoga Springs, NY and formerly of Open Meadows Road, Ashville, NY, died in her sleep November 19th. She celebrated her 90th birthday with family in May. Her health began to decline over the summer and she entered hospice care in September.

Born May 25, 1933 to Wallace and Mildred Saxton, Jo grew up in Jamestown, NY and Stow, NY. She graduated from Chautauqua High School in 1951 and married Lincoln Fisher on October 7, 1951. He died in October 2017.

In addition to raising her sons full time, she was known for her outstanding cooking, volunteering, and managing all the responsibilities of a farm spouse. She was active in the Open Meadows United Methodist Church her whole adult life. A graduate of Jamestown Community College, Jo worked as a home health aide caring for elderly. And even in her own elderly years continued to take care of others, especially her husband Linc and her mother.

She is survived by son Tim and his wife Sandy of Ballston Spa, NY, their 2 children, their spouses and four great grandchildren; and son Andy and his wife Lou of Alexandria, VA and their two children.
