Diane M. Cochran, 67, passed away in the early morning hours of November 3, 2023 at theHospice Center of High Point, North Carolina.
Diane was born on July 5, 1956 in Pittsburgh, PA, the daughter of the late William and Doris Cochran.
Graduating from Corry High School in 1974, Diane went on to further her education at Jamestown Community College and the State University of New York at Fredonia. She later earned a Masters Degree in Special Education from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania.
For 30 years, Diane worked for the Erie 2 Chautauqua-Cattaraugus BOCES System at many different locations including the LoGuidice and HEWES Educational Centers. While working atthe BOCES Center at Chautauqua Lake Central School, she played an integral part on the team that developed the Behavior Specialist Program. This program traveled throughout schools in Chautauqua County and taught other teachers how to implement behavior plans specifically designed for the needs of a particular student. Diane retired from her work in the Special Education field in 2018.
Diane had a love for choral singing and enjoyed singing with many different choral groups throughout her adult life including the Jamestown Choral Society, the summer choir at Chautauqua Institution and the First Presbyterian Church Choir of Greensboro, NC. Diane was especially proud of her participation in the Berkshire Choral International held on the campus of Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, VA just this past summer.
Diane genuinely loved all people without judgement and maintained lifelong friendships with those individuals in which she worked, sang, read and lived. She was especially known for her baking of pies for friends and neighbors, living out the phrase "If you love people, cook for them!" Another one of her favorites phrases was "Let's have a beer and think about it." Before moving to her condo at the Peak'n Peak Resort in retirement, she made her home in Lakewood for 30 years.
Diane is survived by her husband, Mark L. Anderson, with whom she was married for 32 years, her daughter, Rachel Rosenberg (Todd) of Dorr, Michigan and a son, Andrew Boozel (Bridgette) of French Creek, NY as well as grand- children, William and Charlie Rosenberg and Emily and Nataly Boozel. Diane is also survived by a sister, Pam Cochran, and a brother, Dave Cochran, both of High Point, North Carolina as well as six nieces and many close friends.
The last stanza of the poem Life is Eternal reads, "Her diminished size is in me, not in her and
just at that moment when some one at my side says, 'There, she's gone!' There are other eyes
watching her coming and other voices ready to take up the glad shout, 'There she comes!'"
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Vikings Lake Park on Chautauqua Lake in Summer 2024 and memorials can be made to the Vikings Scholarship Fund.
