Randolph -- Jean L. (Horton) Ormond, 95, formerly of Route 394 in Randolph and the Randolph Manor, passed away Sunday, (October8, 2023), in the Heritage Green Rehab and Skilled Nursing Center.
She was born February 15, 1928 in East Randolph, New York the daughter of the late Leon F. and Clara R. (Milroy) Horton. She was a 1946 graduate of Randolph Central School and was a Home maker to her husband and three sons.
She was a member of the East Randolph United Methodist Church where she had been a Sunday School Teacher, financial secretary on the finance committee and served with the United Methodist Women's Association. She was also a member of the Randolph Ladies Home Bureau and the Town of Poland Senior Citizens.
Jean enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and her interests included flower gardening, cooking, canning, freezing, crafting, knitting, needlepoint, sewing, making clothes, helped with many wedding gowns, hand quilted baby blankets, knitted sweaters and mittens, did embroidery, refinished many family members furniture and working jigsaw puzzles. Jean also enjoyed reading, especially from her Bible.
Surviving are her three sons; Allan (Bobbie Jo) Ormond of Little Valley, Paul (Mary) Ormond of Black Mountain, N.C. and Ronald (Denise) Ormond of Randolph, thirteen grandchildren, Rachael, Daniel, Keenan, Tara, Victoria, Kennedy, Camaryn, Trey, Tia, Jason, Alicia, Brock and Sarah and 19 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Leon and Clara, her husband of 60 years. Grant L. Ormond, whom she married on May 7, 1948 and who preceded her on June 21, 2008 and five siblings, Lawrence and Clarence Horton, Florence Stahley, Eva Blood and Leona Smith.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 2 to4 PM, Monday, (October 16, 2023) from the East Randolph Methodist Church, where services will follow at 4:00 PM Pastor Tim Middleton will officiate. Dinner will follow the services in the fellowship hall. Burial will be in the East Randolph Cemetery.
