Melvin K. “Butch” Ernewein

Melvin K. “Butch” Ernewein, born on February 27, 1939, of 23 Swan Street, P.O. Box 173, Celoron, passed on September 29, 2023, surrounded by his loving family after fighting a courageous 10-year battle with cancer. He was the son of the late Jacob and Mildred Ernewein. Surviving is his wife, Linda Faley Ernewein. They celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary on August 21st.

He retired from Reliance Mold & Die but then went back to work as a transportation aide for the Resource Center. Butch loved to rebuild and fix anything that he could get his hands on, even if he had to MacGyver his way through. He loved to teach his kids and grandkids the best way to do everything because he knew best.

Surviving are his four sons; Bruce (Erin) Ernewein, Brian (Carrie) Ernewein, Robert (Rebecca) Burnett and Matthew (Kate) Burnett; grandchildren Jessica Jones, Erica Butler, Justin Stacey, Alyssa DiCarlo, Alex Burnett, Madelyn, Ryan and Amy Burnett and great grandchildren; Presleigh and Dawson Jones, Eloise and Clara Butler, Aryan Stacey and Lucas DiCarlo and several nieces and nephews.

Butch was preceded in death by his three brothers; Jake, Chuck and Bob; and his son Scott Burnett.

We would like to thank all the staff, aides and nurses at Heritage Green for all the exceptional care and compassion that was given to Butch.

A celebration of life will be held at oNoon onTuesday, October 3rd at the Lakewood Rod & Gun Club, 433 East Terrace, Lakewood, NY.
