Danna C. Snyder

Danna C. Snyder, 86, of Jamestown, Randolph, passed away Friday, (September 22, 2023) at the Lutheran Home and Rehab Center in Jamestown.

He was born October 24, 1936 in the Town of Leon, NY, the son of the late Richard and Dorothy Evelyn (Skinner) Snyder. He attended the former Little High School and received a Bachelor’s degree in Liberal Education from Buffalo State College.

He retired in 2000 from the Ashville BOCES, where he was the Automotive Technology Teacher, he had also taught at Jamestown High School and BOCES in Ellicottville in the same capacity. In earlier years he owned and operated the former Snyder’s Arco Service Station and Snyder’s Collision in Randolph, worked for Brown Garage and Lundgren Chevrolet, also in Randolph.

Danna was a former Bishop and Clerk at The Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints in Jamestown, where he also taught classes. He was also a member of the Randolph Fire Company, having served as recording secretary. He enjoyed flying, spending time outdoors and woodworking. He also built the home he lives in on Jamestown Road in Randolph, (Town of Napoli)

Surviving are his wife, Barbara Ann (Scheffler) Snyder, whom he married on August 6, 1955 in Little Valley, four sons; Richard Snyder of Forestville, Ross (Clovis) Snyder of Jamestown, Danna “James” Snyder of St. George, UT and Jeffrey Snyder of Napoli, a daughter, Gretchen Snyder of Jamestown and adopted son (grandson) Holden Snyder of Columbus, OH, 14 grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren, and his sister, Sally Reed of Butte, Montana.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Dorothy, four siblings, Philip and Donald Snyder and Kathleen Rhodes and Nancy O’Dell

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 PM, Monday (September 25, 2023) in the Randolph Cemetery. John Ling will officiate.
